Dianna Wilson

I have been an artist all of my life, in fact one of my fondest memories of my childhood was being chosen to draw Santa Claus on all of the blackboards in my school when I was in the fourth grade.  I continued my education by attending the Columbus College of Art and Design in Ohio and worked as an illustrator for one of the nation’s largest makers of indoor illuminated bar signs.  Coors Brewery was one of our customers and that’s what brought me to Colorado in the early ‘60’s.  I became a real estate broker and then a police dispatcher/supervisor.  After 22 years with the Broomfield Police Department, I retired in 2002 and now devote my time to my family, the arts and community service projects.

I have volunteered to teach painting workshops for children at the Broomfield Children’s Library and Intergenerational painting workshops at the Broomfield Recreation Center, both of which were sponsored by grants from the Broomfield Community Foundation, the Broomfield Rotary Club and the Broomfield County SCFD.  I volunteered to teach a program called “Memories in the Making” at Broomfield Skilled Nursing where we use painting to stimulate memory in Alzheimer patients.  I was given the opportunity to paint an eleven foot mural depicting 100 Years of War at the Broomfield Veteran’s Museum which was dedicated in June, 2003.  Currently, I have created a program involving local Boy Scout troops to paint public benches throughout Broomfield to make them wonderful pieces of art.

I am President of the Paletteers Art Club, Past President of the Broomfield Art Guild, founding member of the Public Art Committee for the City and County of Broomfield, led an effort to restore the Historical Brunner Farmhouse. I was honored to be chosen as the Best Artist of Broomfield County for the 2003 Broomfield Enterprise Gold Awards and voted the Best Activist of Broomfield County for the 2005 Gold Awards.  I received the 2005 Heart of Broomfield Award for the Arts.   My painting titled “The Field” was chosen to be the 2005 Broomfield Days Poster. I was nominated for the Rex Morgan Award in 2006 through the SCFD for Broomfield County. I have won numerous awards for my paintings, including Best of Show at membership shows with the Broomfield Art Guild and the Paletteers Art Guild.   My paintings are hung in collections throughout the United States, China and Japan.
